Ion exchange on a permeable polymer

The system consists of two phases: solution of two metal ions and permeable polymer. The polymer bears functional groups R.

So far as the polymer is permeable for the ions, the exchange takes place in whole bulk of the solid phase.

For simplicity, charge-compensating anions present in the liquid phase are not shown.
